I'm delighted to have been asked to speak at this years RIACON — "Back at a better venue". That's my slogan not the official one which doesn't actually exists. RIACON 2012 in its own words:
Where architects and developers of all levels come to gather, share and learn about creating the next generation of web based applications. RIAcon's goal is to help you network with fellow industry professionals and expose you to the best content. At RIACon attendees can learn the most up to date skills in HTML5, Mobile, Javascript, Flex/AIR, Actionscript, and Server Side Enterprise Architecture.
I'll be speaking on Searching ORM: Why, How and What's New in CF10 and there are many other excellent sessions.
I am excited and honored to have been chosen to speak at cf.Objective() 2012 on Searching ORM: First Why, Then How. This will be my first time speaking and attending cf.Objective as personal conflicts have generally kept me away in the past.
There are some excellent sessions this year and a whole tracked on JavaScript dubbed js.Objective()Two of my colleagues are also speaking: Jason Delmore on Managing your Software Development LifeCycle and Steven Erat on Automated UI Testing with CFSelenium, MXUnit, ANT, and JenkinsCI. If you would like to work with us we have openings in both Omaha and Providence. Contact me if your interested.
With 25 sessions spread over three tracks — ColdFusion, Flex and jQuery/Javascript — RIACON is shaping up to be a great conference.
This is the inaugural conference and the registration cost is $99. How can you not want to come? Register now
I will be talking on jQuery and Media Queries: Optimize your site or app for every screen size
The first RIACON conference will be held in August in Rockville, MD just outside Washington, DC. In the conference's own words, RIACON is:
Where architects and developers of all levels come to gather, share and learn about creating the next generation of web based applications. RIAcon's goal is to help you network with fellow industry professionals and expose you to the best relevant content and most up to date skills used in ColdFusion, Flex, AIR and Javascript development.
One thing I really like about this conference is that there is a "Javascript, AJAX, jQuery" track. I think this is recognition that lots of ColdFusion developers are using jQuery to create slick, rich applications. I submitted a topic in the Javascript track about using Media Queries and jQuery to adapt your site or app for every screen.
jQuery and Media Queries: Optimize your site or app for every screen size
The number of different sizes both sites and apps need to accomodate for is exploding. From 3.2 to 4.3 inch phones to 7 & 10 inch tablets to laptops to monitors we need an easy way to make our sites look good without creating multiple versions. jQuery and Media Queries make this much easier. In this talk we will go over real world examples and show how it all works.
The deadline for topic submissions is the end of the month. Add yours!
